From the papers[]

The Age[]

"While a few players should be back Andrew Embley could also be in trouble after his head-high contact on Clancee Pearce in the third term resulted in the Docker being subbed out of the game.

But it was the result of an Eagles side taking the game on - a feature shown impressively since the mid-season bye.

Their pressure on Fremantle's ball carrier resulted in most goals.

While the Eagles were working hard for each of their scoring shots, the Dockers managed to find some room in their attacking 50 when they did get forward."

PerthNow[]

"Down by two points at three-quarter time after a tremendous arm-wrestle to that point, the Dockers ran riot in the last quarter.

Fremantle added eight goals to three for the final term to get home by 28 points, with a string of five consecutive goals through the middle of the quarter enough to kill off its cross-town rival.

The teams had kicked five goals each in a pulsating third term.

Fremantle looked as though it would ease clear when Stephen Hill's running goal early in the third gave the Dockers a two-goal buffer.

But the dogged Eagles had some team-lifters of their own in store, with Embley landing a stunning set-shot from the boundary line to halt the Fremantle revival."
