Collingwood wrestled with the Eagles for three quarters and then pulled away in the final term to win by a comfortable 37 points. Daniel Kerr was close to best on ground in a losing side, picking up 30 silky touches, while in his 50th senior game Mark Seaby impressed in the ruck in the absence of Dean Cox and Michael Gardiner.

From the papers[]

The West Australian[]

"On Saturday, Andrew McDougall came into centre half-forward as a late replacement for Ashley Hansen but was only moderate.

Lynch found his 2005 fumbles and was held goalless after quarter time when Simon Prestigiacomo turned the screws.

And with Lynch down, Hunter off and Andrew Embley and Brent Staker unable to create anything up forward, goals were hard to come by.

One aspect that wasn't lacking was commitment. On several occasions players crashed into each other such was their desperation to attack the contest with vigour, leaving more Eagles to carry soreness into next weekend's clash with ladder leaders Adelaide."
