From the papers[]

The West Australian[]

"On-baller Chris Judd put his pure silk on display to lead the Eagles to victory and further firm as a Brownlow Medal favourite after the surprise pre-game withdrawal of captain Ben Cousins with a hamstring injury.

Embattled defender David Wirrpunda and Chad Morrison reminded the Eagles hierarchy of their ability to remain a playing force with the club, in a game crucial to their futures following a midweek player contract review.

A standout aspect of the Eagles performance was the spread of scoring options which saw five players in the multiple goal-kickers list."[1]

The Age[]

"The Eagles lost skipper Ben Cousins to a back-related hamstring before the match but it didn't matter.

They had plenty of midfielders and the Bombers had no key-position players and the match was almost finished as a contest by quarter-time.

Chris Judd, who captained West Coast, was superb, Chad Morrison had a field day in defence, midfield and attack. So did David Wirrpunda, while Darren Glass played solidly on Matthew Lloyd.

The Eagles won almost everywhere and forwards Ashley Sampi, McDougall and Phil Matera all cashed in."[2]
