Buoyed by their massive win the previous week, West Coast travelled to Adelaide to take on Port in a top-of-the-table clash. The Power hit hard early, with their aggression evidenced by a free kick paid to Ben Cousins before the bounce for a hit by his opponent, and by a dangerous spear tackle by Peter Burgoyne on Daniel Kerr. The approach paid off (not for Burgoyne, who was later suspended for three weeks) as Port romped out to a handy lead by quarter time and then increased the margin at every change to record a comprehensive 64 point win. Michael Braun led West Coast with 21 possessions and Andrew Embley added 20 touches and a goal.
