From the papers[]

The Age[]

"The much-awaited clash between Jakovich and Carey was in place from the first bounce, playing traditional key-position roles. But Carey maintained his supremacy with a brilliant first quarter where his quick hands and creative play helped set up two of North's three goals.

But then the Carey show exploded. In seven devastating minutes, the North star kicked his team's fourth, fifth and sixth goals.

His third goal was a gem. Playing one-on-one with Jakovich, Carey outplayed the Eagles champ with a handball to himself on the boundary line, ducking around the somewhat immobile Jakovich and gathering the ball to goal from a tight and demanding 45 metres.

That classic goal was followed by a brilliant snap from Winston Abraham to put the Roos 13 points up - a 27-point turn-around from the eight-minute mark."[1]
