West Coast were beaten but not disgraced by Essendon under the Docklands roof, maintaining touch with the top-four Bombers until late in the match to go down by 30 points. Essendon threatened to kick away with three quick goals before halftime but the Eagles fought back in the third, narrowing the margin to 13 at the final change. Elliot Yeo continued his good form with a team-high 20 possessions, 13 tackles and a goal, and Jamie Cripps kicked two goals from 19 touches.

Quarter by quarter[]
From the coach[]
From the papers[]
The West Australian[]
"The Eagles lost by 30 points but were just three goals down with two minutes remaining.
Each time they challenged the Bombers had the answers, often late, as they kicked eight of their goals came after the 20-minute mark of each quarter.
The man with the answers was Jake Stringer: Five goals, three inside 50s and just shy of 500 metres gained in a hybrid midfield-forward role.
The Bombers kicked 11 of their 19 goals from their defensive half, with Jayden Laverde’s 18 kicks and l11 marks telling. Sam Durham was the best of their mids with 10 inside 50s from 29 possessions. Zach Merrett (29) and Jye Caldwell (26) also had a big influence."[1]
Reserves[]
