While West Coast had a mid-season bye in the AFL, the reserves recorded an upset win over Subiaco.

West Coast broke through for their first WAFL win of 2021, stunning premiership fancies Subiaco at Leederville Oval with a thrilling victory. Riding on the back of some big-name inclusions such as Luke Shuey, Alex Witherden and Nathan Vardy, the Eagles broke the game open with six consecutive goals in the third term and then held on as the Lions finished fast, with Kieran Hug converting from the boundary late in the match to give his side some vital breathing space. Mark Hutchings had a team-high 30 possessions and Vardy kicked two goals while dominating the ruck.
