From the papers[]

The Age[]

"Melbourne took control of the game in the third term. Viney, working hard with Adem Yze and Jeff White, gave the Demons scoring opportunities, which this time they took. At three-quarter time they led by 11 points.

Yze created the run from defence, but White showed the full potential of his talent that made him so highly sought after at the start of the season when he indicated he wanted to move from Fremantle.

James McDonald came off the bench to kick four goals and Shaun Smith added two important ones.

In the final quarter they put on five into a small breeze, without West Coast answering, to seal the result."[1]
