West Coast suffered a humiliating loss to the previously winless North Melbourne, heading into the mid-season bye on a sour note with a 9-point defeat. In a clash where the standards reflected both sides' positions at the lower end of the ladder, the Eagles were horribly wasteful for three quarters and had just two goals on the board when North went up by 33 points early in the last quarter. The home side then burst to life seemingly from nowhere, piling on six straight goals (three of them to Jake Waterman) to take the lead before a howler of a free kick in the Kangaroos' forward 50 allowed them back in front. Elliot Yeo stood up in the absence of other top-line midfielders with 23 possessions and 13 tackles and Alex Witherden had 20 touches, with both kicking goals in the final quarter run.

West Coast's reserves' recent good form came to a stuttering halt against Subiaco, blown away at Leederville by 65 points. The Eagles started reasonably well but suffered a now-customary goalless quarter in the second term as the Lions pulled away, leading by 42 points at the main break, before some late final-term games prevented the margin from blowing out even further. Zane Trew responded to his AFL omission with a team-high 25 possessions while Clay Hall continued to push for a debut with 24 touches and six tackles.
