West Coast's season from hell chalked up another unwanted record, suffering their biggest loss since 2008 and the fourth-biggest in club history. A threadbare Eagles side, with Greg Clark playing backup ruck and Elliot Yeo and Oscar Allen spending time at full-back, were soundly thrashed in every facet of the game as Adelaide's Taylor Walker celebrated a milestone match with 10 goals to outscore the visitors on his own. Bailey Williams stood up again in the ruck with 20 disposals and a goal to go with his 35 hitouts, and recent arrival Ryan Maric showed promise with two goals on debut.

Quarter by quarter[]

West Coast were forced into another change with Waterman unavailable, replaced by Chesser. Trew started as sub, with Ned McHenry in that role for Adelaide.

From the coach[]

From the papers[]

The Sunday Times[]

"West Coast's midfield was their most experienced line-up of Tim Kelly, Dom Sheed and Luke Shuey but they were smashed in the clearances, leaving their undersized backline exposed.

For the Crows, Rory Laird was massive with 31 touches, 19 contested and 12 clearances, while captain Jordan Dawson (30 disposals) and Ben Keays (27 disposals and seven inside 50s) played with all out attack.

Walker had three goals by quarter-time, prompting Yeo to be sent to him with little impact, doubling his tally in the first eight minutes of the second term and equalling his career-best seven by half-time.

This prompted a massive shuffle, with Oscar Allen being sent into defence, robbing the Eagles of their only in-form target."[1]

The Age[]

"Most of the 39,450-strong crowd came to cheer Walker - and it took just 16 seconds for their first of many opportunities.

The Crows won the initial clearance of the game, attacked, and Walker outmarked Rhett Bazzo and converted.

By the end of the first term, Walker had scored two more majors as Adelaide blitzed the Eagles, booting 7.5 to 2.1.

The Tex-fest continued in the second stanza with Walker slotting three more goals in the first eight minutes."[2]

Reserves[]

Round 9 (10 June)

Subiaco took their turn to get a percentage boost, thumping West Coast by 129 points at Lathlain Park. The Eagles, featuring just two AFL-listed players in Jack Williams and Tyrell Dewar, stayed in touch for a quarter but managed just two goals from that point on, while giving up 20.
