West Coast controlled the clash from the early stages but the Power refused to get blown away, staying in touch throughout to eventually go down by 22 points. Shannon Hurn was brilliant across half-back and drifted forward to kick three goals, while the Eagles also got good service from midfielders Daniel Kerr and Matt Priddis.

From the papers[]

Herald-Sun[]

"The visitors held the upper hand in the centre clearance battle in the first half.

But it didn't stop the disciplined Eagles outclassing their opponents around the ground though. They moved 29 points clear 10 minutes into the second term after Adam Selwood slotted a set shot from near the boundary line.

The Power hit back with consecutive majors to Boak and Danyle Pearce, but West Coast responded by controlling the rest of the quarter.

LeCras added his third goal and Kennedy his second as the home side took a 33-point break into halftime."

The Age[]

"Hurn, who had already booted one goal from long range in the second quarter, rifled through a monstrous drop punt from all of 62 metres.

But after West Coast stretched its lead back out to six goals early in the last quarter, the Power came again - this time with an even more dangerous comeback.

Travis Boak, Hamish Hartlett and Cameron O'Shea goaled in quick succession, leaving the Subiaco crowd hushed and Hurn to again be the hero for the Eagles by steadying the ship with a superb snap.

It wasn't exactly smooth sailing from that point on but West Coast did enough to seal a win that looked more comfortable on the scoreboard than it was in reality."

WAFL[]

There was a general bye in the WAFL as a state representative side played Queensland at Rushton Park.
