The Bulldogs beat an inaccurate West Coast on a warm Sunday afternoon, becoming the first Victorian side to beat the Eagles at Subiaco in four years. West Coast threatened to mount another last-quarter comeback when a rare Darren Glass goal put them within two goals, but they were unable to bridge the gap. Chad Fletcher led the Eagles with 28 possessions.

From the papers[]

The West Australian[]

"Resolute defence from Darren Glass rescued the Eagles several times in the first half. His sidekick, David Wirrpanda, provided some telling runs.

But Mark Nicoski looked brittle at times against Johnson, whose four goals proved invaluable.

In percentage terms, the Bulldogs operated above 90 per cent for most of the game.

West Coast hit that mark for a patch in the last term but were substandard for the rest.

They missed targets. Some decision-making was atrocious. They didn't swarm to support their mates."
