From the papers[]

The Sunday Age[]

"The rot began to set in during the second term when Brisbane booted seven goals to one to open up a 35-point buffer which had everyone anticipating a rout.

But the charge was briefly halted by a four-goal burst from West Coast which got the Eagles to within 17 points before the Lions went on a rampage reminiscent of their 100-point rout of the Eagles last season.

The Lions responded to that burst by slamming on six of the next seven goals to open up an unassailable 47-point lead as the teams went to the last break.

It was a stroll for the Lions from there. They scored at will in a one-sided final term, finishing with 12 separate goalkickers."[1]
