From the papers[]
The Sunday Age[]
"The Eagles' quiet achiever Mitchell White began the carnage in the second minute with a clever snap, and his goal was followed at regular intervals by contributions from Andrew Williams, Andrew Donnelly, Ben Cousins and, finally, Phil Matera.
Given the Cats' fragile state of mind and the almost non-existent levels of confidence, that was basically that as a contest. Sure, they got within 18 points early in the second quarter, but the events that nipped the comeback in the bud were indicative of the crisis of confidence afflicting Gary Ayres' men.
First, captain Garry Hocking ran unopposed into an open goal and, after taking a bounce, aimed to handball over the top of Guy McKenna to Brenton Sanderson in the square. His handball drifted wide and bounced through for a behind.
Then, five minutes later, with the margin only 19 points, Cats' centre half-forward Jason Mooney, one of the most accurate kicks for goal in the league this year, had a set shot from 40 metres out and hit the post."[1]
