From the papers[]

The Sunday Age[]

"Carlton extended the margin to 31 points 25 minutes into the third term and suddenly the Eagles were galvanised into action. Wingman Paul Symmons, the most-improved player in the club, goaled after a 50-metre penalty and then Chad Morrison, Ilija Grgic and Tony Evans cut the deficit to seven points.

The four goals in eight minutes were the response to 24 minutes of dominance by the Blues that had returned a disappointing 3.6.

In the tense 32 minutes that was the final term, both sides kicked 1.5. The Eagles closed to three points, but then the Blues got out to 10 points before the margin came back to that final seven."[1]
