From the papers[]

The Age[]

"While never able to bridge the margin to less than a goal, West Coast was typically persistent and never let the match blow out by more than four goals until the final quarter. This was largely due to Brett Heady who dutifully assumed the role of key forward.

Heady booted six goals and saw off Graham Wright both in the air and close to ground. But the switch of Alan Richardson to Heady late in the third term made a difference.

Peter Matera produced two sparks of brilliance in the third term that looked set to ignite West Coast. But, overall, he was well held by Mark Fraser, another of those who Matthews seems to have healed after a mediocre year to date.

Fraser and his mates were walking a lot taller last night after exorcising the demons that appeared following the Richmond loss."[1]

Canberra Times[]

"Collingwood held a handy lead for much of the game, pushing 18 points clear by half-time before bagging 10 goals to seven.

Buckley, rover Tony Francis and defenders Gavin Crosisca and Shane Watson also performed well.

The Eagjes were hampered by injuries, losing captain John Worsfold (shoulder) before the game, and forward Brett Spinks (slight concussion) and key defender Glen Jakovich (neck) during the match."[2]
