From the papers[]

Canberra Times[]

"West Coast exploded into action from the opening bounce, producing four goals in the first 14 minutes to leave the Lions looking lost.

Ruck-rover Chris Lewis and midfielder Steve Malaxos provided great drive for the Eagles from the centre and Peter Sumich was converting opportunities into goals at full-forward.

These performances gave the Eagles a 17 point advantage at the first change, but after the break the Lions came into the game.

Rover Matthew Dundas was receiving the ball from John Ironmonger's winning tap-outs and Darren Kappler and Duane Rowe provided strong drive from defence into attack."[1]
