Waalitj Marawar suffered a disappointing return to their 2023 form, failing to fire a shot as Kuwarna (Adelaide) smashed them from pillar to post in a deflating end to Indigenous Round. Playing in South Australia for the third time in the 2024 season, the Eagles gave every indication that they didn't want to be there, spending large periods resembling witches hats as the home side piled on seven unanswered goals in the first term and 13 for the first half. Jeremy McGovern had a team-high 25 disposals.

Round 8 (25 May)

The Eagles reserves scored their second victory of the 2024 season, holding off Claremont at Lathlain to record a 21-point win. The home side leapt out of the blocks with a six-goal first term and held a 36-point lead at the main change, but the Tigers kicked five unanswered goals in the third term to threaten to steal the win and narrowed the margin to within a kick before two late goals to Shannon Lucassen put the result beyond doubt. Lucassen finished with three majors, while Zane Trew (36 possessions) and key defender Harry Edwards (24 possessions) continued to press for a senior berth.
