From the papers[]

The Age[]

"A solitary goal, from Daryn Cresswell after 17 minutes of the game, was the only score that the Swans took to Barassi at the first break. In the same period, the Eagles, led by full-forward Peter Sumich with three goals, kicked 6.7, and although the deficit was 37 points, it did seem already insurmountable.

But to their credit, the locals showed fight in the second term.

A 55-metre boomer from a helmet-clad Richard Osborne signalled the start of the fightback. The Swans added further goals from Scott Direen, Scott Watters and two from David Strooper while West Coast kicked a paltry 2.4, and the margin had shrunk to a "mere" 23 points at half-time.

Sadly for those optimistic die-hard fans, the comeback was short-lived."[1]
