From the papers[]

The West Australian[]

"It might have taken more than three quarters for the Kangaroos as a whole to run up the white flag but several key members of their midfield had done so by quarter time.

By that time the Eagles had a 15-point lead that was handy rather than decisive, but they had also run up 104 possessions to 55 and established superiority in running power that was always going to get the Kangaroos. It was just a matter of how long it was going to take.

Forget the usual suspects, for Cousins, Kerr and Embley were absent and Judd was being well held by Brady Rawlings.

The Roos were getting run over by the unusual suspects. Priddis had run up 12 touches and kicked a goal, Braun had touched the ball 14 times. Stenglein was not dominant but was locked in a keen battle with senior Roos midfielder Adam Simpson."[1]

The Sunday Age[]

"The Eagles were 31 points clear at half-time. The Roos lacked the midfield punch to fight their way out, but they did not stop swinging.

The Roos began to claw their way back. Grant kicked two goals for the quarter and Corey Jones and Aaron Edwards added a goal each.

The Eagles were outscored four goals to two and narrowed the margin to three goals at the final change.

The heartbreaking moments for the Roos came at the start of the last quarter. A series of attacks produced only three points, with Adam Simpson, Drew Petrie and Matt Campbell all taking shots and missing.

At the other end, Judd slotted a majestic running goal off the outside of his foot from 50 metres and Mark LeCras kicked truly from 30 metres."[2]
