From the papers[]

The Sunday Age[]

"Chris Waterman came off the bench to be a key player as the Eagles answered the Bulldogs' eight first quarter goals with eight of their own in the second term, three to the versatile Chad Morrison, to take a one point lead into the long break.

In the second half, this effort was backed up by disciplined defence from Guy McKenna and Daniel Metropolis.

After their opening onslaught, the Bulldogs had to wait until 21 minutes into the third quarter for their ninth major.

Three goals in three minutes then brought them back into the match again, but Paul Symmons' third goal of the quarter and another to Phil Read again extended West Coast's lead and all but extinguished the Bulldogs' hopes."[1]
