From the papers[]

The Age[]

"The match saw the AFL debut of Eagles standby Jason Heatley, who got his chance after being drafted in November 1993 and after a 14-goal haul in the WAFL last week.

It was a strange debut for the 23-year-old. who did not get a kick until just before half-time but he constantly roamed deep out of the goal square, taking the attentive Richard Champion with him and enabling other Eagles attackers to score.

Nothing demonstrates the depth of Malthouse's problems up front more than the fact that until the 13th minute of the last quarter, 10 West Coast goals had been kicked by 10 players.

Matera, by then locked in a classic duel with Gilbert McAdam, was awarded a free for being held and scored his second. Shortly after he brought up his third, also from a free. He finished with five."[1]
