From the papers[]
The Age[]
"It was one of the most dramatic form reversals seen in league football. Richmond looked confident, assured and desperate from the first bounce. In contrast, West Coast looked to have no idea, its skills seemingly buried under the centre-square mud.
There was hardly a weak link in the Richmond line-up. Giant ruckman Mark Lee showed that he had regained some confidence, handing out opportunities to the stream of men running past - Dale Weightmen, Michael Mitchell and Tony Free. Up forward, the Tigers had Justin and Michael Pickering and Jeff Hogg. Totally solid in defence were Peter Wilson and Brian Leys.
Although Leys had only five kicks in his fifth AFL game, he provided a valuable service by putting Eagles' captain Ross Glendinning out of the match. Glendinning had three possessions all day and was taken off by coach John Todd in the final quarter."[1]
Canberra Times[]
"Ruck rovers Justin and Michael Pickering were convincing winners in the centre square while Free and Allan McKellar gained consistent possession for the Tigers.
Half forward Peter Wilson starred on his new half back flank and only Paul Peos and Chris Mainwaring threatened the home side.
The Eagles trailed by 46 points midway through the second quarter and only ever looked dangerous when they pulled back to within 19 points half an hour later."[2]
