From the papers[]
The Sunday Age[]
"Sadly, the Eagles had few contributors, with most players well down on last week's tenacious performance.
A few, including vice captain Steve Malaxos, Paul Peos, and Dwayne Lamb tried hard, but many of their mates went missing.
At full-forward Peter Sumich registered nearly half his side's score, but the ball was not in his area often enough for him to have any real impact on proceedings.
Defendant Murray Rance was not his side's worst, but he was often out-marked by smaller Collingwood forwards."[1]
Canberra Times[]
"Right from the opening bounce both sides tried hard to exert their authority with a show of strength in pushing and shoving matches.
Collingwood defender Michael Christian was reported in the opening minutes when he clashed heavily with Eagles' full-forward Peter Sumich, as Sumich kicked a goal.
Sumich managed four for the game and it was quite agood display from the tall forward who had limited opportunities due to the dominance of Collingwood's mid-fielders."[2]
