Hailing from Broome, Neil Marshall was a skilful small defender who unfortunately received few opportunities at West Coast.

West Coast career[]

Marshall spent the 1996 season at Claremont, winning a premiership along the way, and waited until late in the 1997 season before finally being called up to face Sydney at the SCG. He managed one more appearance for the year against Melbourne at the WACA.

Injury problems early in the 1998 season limited Marshall’s ability to push for senior selection. He eventually earned another chance against Collingwood in July after a sustained run at Claremont, and did well enough to hold his spot for the derby the following week. However, that was his last game in West Coast colours, the halfback delisted at the end of the year having managed just 4 games in three years.

Post-AFL career[]

After his delisting Marshall shifted from Claremont to Subiaco, where he enjoyed a solid career. After spending some time with Cable Beach in the West Kimberley Football League, Marshall was an assistant to former teammate Chris Waterman at Subiaco in 2011.
