(19th Eagles player)
A stocky centreman from Geraldton, Murray Wrensted won the Sandover Medal in 1985 with East Fremantle, playing in the Sharks’ premiership side the same year.
West Coast career[]
Signed up in West Coast’s inaugural squad, Wrensted started in the middle in the opening game against Richmond and immediately showed he belonged in the VFL, kicking 2 goals from 29 possessions. Wrensted played 16 games in the club’s first season and finished in the top 10 in the best and fairest.
He added a further 13 games in the 1988 season, although he is perhaps unfairly remembered for his final possession of the year, a missed shot on goal in the elimination final against Melbourne that could have won the game. He left at the end of the season and was picked up by Collingwood in the pre-season draft.
Collingwood career[]
Wrensted played 10 games in the black and white in 1989 but couldn’t get a game in their premiership side in 1990.
