(5th Eagles player)
Former Giant midfielder Maddy Collier was signed ahead of the Eagles' entry into the AFLW competition, and spent three years in the west before joining a new expansion side in Sydney.
GWS Giants career[]
Originally from Nowra on New South Wales' south coast, Collier was recruited by GWS as a priority selection ahead of the inaugural 2017 AFLW season. She played 15 games in three seasons at the Giants as a hard-nosed midfielder.[1]
West Coast career[]
Looking for more playing time, Collier was signed as a free agent by West Coast in April 2019 during the AFLW's exchange period, signing a two-year deal.[2] She was included in the Eagles' leadership group under fellow ex-Giant Emma Swanson, and played almost every game in the club's first season.
Collier continued her form in 2021, finishing in the top five of the best and fairest after impressing in the midfield and off half-back. She remained an important member of the side in 2022, but her season ended early after suffering a fractured fibula against Richmond.
Sydney career[]
With her hometown Swans one of four sides entering the competition, Collier returned to NSW at the end of the 2022 season. She was named one of three inaugural co-captains of the Swans, but played just five games in her first season at the club due to injury, and was inactive for the following season after injuring her ACL.
