Former WAFL midfielder Luke Dwyer moved into coaching after a successful playing career with East Perth and Claremont, and was West Coast's inaugural AFLW head coach.
Playing career[]
Dwyer played 41 games with the Royals in three seasons before crossing to Claremont at the end of 1999. He played 105 games with the Tigers between 2000 and 2007, including the losing 2005 grand final.
Coaching career[]
After his playing career finished Dwyer took up coaching in the WAAFL, leading University to five consecutive grand final appearances winning four A-grade premierships (2011, 2012, 2014 and 2015), while also teaching at Christ Church Grammar School. He was appointed as the Reserves Coach at East Perth in 2016, before being added to West Coast's panel as a Development Coach ahead of the 2017 season. Dwyer was named as the head coach of the Eagles' incoming AFLW side in late 2018, and coached the team for one season in which they finished bottom of Conference B.
