Hailing from Walpeup in north-western Victoria, Munro was a third-round selection in the 1999 draft, West Coast having acquired the pick from Sydney in the Jason Ball deal.
West Coast career[]
Munro made his debut in a late-season derby, and played the last two games of the 2000 season before returning to East Perth in time to play in their premiership side. He repeated that WAFL success in 2001 while adding another seven largely unremarkable games to his senior tally.
Generally rotating into the midfield off a half-forward flank, Munro’s best game came in 2002 in his only AFL final. After playing just two games in the regular season, he was picked for the elimination final against Essendon and kicked 3 goals in a losing cause.
Munro managed just six games the following season, and none at all in 2004 as he spent the year at Swan Districts. After just 18 games in five seasons, it came as little surprise when he was delisted.
Post-AFL career[]
Munro returned to country Victoria and spent almost a decade with his junior side, the Walpeup-Underbool Kangaroos in the Mallee Football League. When the club merged with neighbours Ouyen United, Munro was appointed a playing-coach and led the amalgamated side to a flag in its first season.[1]
