Tall forward Jobe Shanahan was West Coast's second pick in the 2024 national draft.
West Coast career[]
Originally from Moama on the NSW side of the Murray River, Shanahan won All-Australian selection (for the Allies) as well as Talent League Team of the Year selection (for the Pioneers) in 2024 and also played three VFL games for Essendon, kicking 11 goals. Considered a likely first-round selection, he surprisingly slipped to the second day of the draft where West Coast added him to its stocks of young key forwards. On being drafted he was described as mobile and classy with a vice-like grip.[1]
