Jaxon Crabb was a prolific midfielder at WAFL level, but was not able to take the next step to a significant AFL career.
West Coast career[]
Taken early in the 1997 draft, Crabb made his debut against Richmond early in the 1998 season and was given another game a few weeks later before being sent back to Claremont.
It took a long time for him to break back into the side. Crabb spent most of 1999 in the WAFL before being called up for the round 20 clash against Hawthorn. Despite having a quiet game, Crabb held his spot for the following round and ultimately for the rest of the season, including finals against the Bulldogs and Blues.
Crabb was in and out of the side again in 2000, managing 8 games in a few stints. It wasn’t enough to hold his spot in the squad and the former first-round pick was cast into the footy wilderness at the end of the year.
Port Adelaide career[]
After winning a best and fairest at Claremont in 2001, Crabb was thrown a lifeline by Port Adelaide in the 2002 rookie draft. He played 4 games for the Power but was axed at the end of the year.
Post-AFL career[]
Crabb returned to Perth, where he won another couple of B&Fs at Claremont along with a Sandover Medal in 2005.
