Former Gold Coast and Carlton forward Jarrod Garlett joined West Coast's standalone reserves side during the 2021 season.
Gold Coast and Carlton career[]
A star South Fremantle junior, Garlett was picked by Gold Coast in the first round of the 2014 national draft, several picks after West Coast selected Liam Duggan. He played 17 games in two seasons with the Suns before returning to Western Australia at the end of 2016 to be with his seriously ill brother.[1]
Garlett spent the 2017 season with South Fremantle, and was drafted by Carlton at the end of the season, playing 13 games in two seasons with the Blues.
West Coast career[]
He returned to Western Australia after being delisted by the Blues, playing a handful of games for Kulin-Kondinin in 2020 and starting 2021 with Geraldton side Railways in the Great Northern Football League. Ahead of the 2021 mid-season draft, he signed with West Coast's reserves side in a bid to earn a third AFL opportunity.[2] Garlett missed out in the June draft, but played out the season with the Eagles, kicking ten goals from nine game.
After spending 2022 with Kambalda in the Goldfields, Garlett returned to the West Coast WAFL squad for 2023, but played just six games.
