(291st Eagles player)
Collingwood (VFL) 2024
Late-blooming Victorian Jack Hutchinson was picked up by West Coast in the 2024 mid-season draft.
West Coast career[]
Originally from Inverloch-Kongwak, the same junior club as Archer Reid, Hutchinson was plying his trade with Wonthaggi in the Gippsland league before being recommended to Collingwood by his coach and former Magpie premiership player Jarryd Blair. He impressed in Collingwood's VFL side in the first half of 2024 and was snatched up by West Coast to fill the list spot created by the unavailability of Noah Long. On being drafted, Hutchinson was described as a high-flying forward with powerful marking ability, speed and athleticism.[1]
After kicking five goals on his WAFL debut just days after being drafted, he made his AFL debut the following week. Hutchinson played seven games for the year, with his best game coming in the final round when he was moved into the midfield against Geelong.
