(251st Eagles player)
Swan Districts key position prospect Harry Edwards was West Coast's first selection in the 2019 rookie draft.
West Coast career[]
Edwards spent the 2018 season in Swans' colts team, playing at either end of the ground as well as in the ruck. He started his rookie season at full-back in West Coast's reserves side, impressing in his ability to take on older and stronger forwards, and was even taken interstate as a traveling emergency for the AFL side, before suffering a foot stress injury. He was rewarded with a contract extension in May, and returned to the reserves late in the year.
Despite the coronavirus pandemic preventing him from playing reserves football in 2020, Edwards was able to break into the senior side for a game against Geelong. Unfortunately, he was knocked out early in the match, bringing an early end to his AFL debut.
Upgraded to the senior list for 2021, the key defender had a breakout season, playing ten games as a backup to Jeremy McGovern and Tom Barrass, and was named the club's Best Emerging Talent at the end of the year. With McGovern missing lengthy periods in 2022, Edwards played 17 games in an under-pressure backline. Unfortunately, he had his own injury worries in 2023, including a broken wrist and a groin complaint that limited him to just two senior games and a handful of pre-season WAFL appearances.
