Formed in 1859, Geelong is the second-oldest club in the AFL, behind Melbourne. The club was a foundation member of the Victorian Football League in 1897, and has won nine premierships overall, including three premierships in five years from 2007 to 2011. Prior to the 2007 flag the Cats had endured a lengthy premiership drought, having not tasted success since 1963. As part of that dry spell they lost four grand finals in seven years in the late 1980s and early 1990s, including losing both the 1992 and 1994 grand finals to West Coast
