West Coast named an unchanged lineup for the first time all season, resisting the urge to hand a surprise debut to goalsneak Willie Rioli. Veterans Will Schofield and Sharrod Wellingham traveled to Adelaide with the team as emergencies.

Adelaide opened the finals series by defeating GWS Giants.

West Coast overcame Port Adelaide in a thrilling extra-time Elimination Final at Adelaide Oval, with Luke Shuey goaling after the siren to win the game. Port had earlier fought back from 31 points down in the second term to take the lead, with the two sides finishing level at the conclusion of regular time. Shuey finished with 32 possessions and two goals and Jeremy McGovern had 25 disposals and 15 marks in defence.

Sydney recorded a big win over Essendon, ending the Bombers' season.
