West Coast announced online home lending platform Lendi as the club's new co-major sponsor, joining Hungry Jack's and replacing long-time sponsor SGIO on the playing guernsey.
The official player exchange period ended with the Eagles unable to convince Geelong to release contracted midfielder Tim Kelly. In a change from previous years, pick trading continued to be allowed right up to, and during, the draft.

Champion forward Mark LeCras announced his retirement after 219 games. The 2010 All-Australian finished with 441 goals, the third-most in West Coast history. LeCras said it felt like the right time. "I couldn’t be happier after playing in a winning grand final with so many blokes who will be mates for the rest of my life. West Coast announced that Matt Rosa, who had recently retired from playing after three years with the Gold Coast Suns, would return to the club as an assistant coach to help fill the void left by the departing Sam Mitchell. Former Hawthorn midfielder Chance Bateman was also named as a development coach, replacing Luke Dwyer who was to take up a new role in the club's community and game development department.

West Coast announced that South Australian midfield pair Luke Partington and Malcolm Karpany had been delisted, along with rookie-listed Ryan Burrows, Tarir Bayok, Callan England and Tony Olango. Partington and Karpany each managed six games in 2017 but failed to achieve senior selection in 2018, while none of the rookie quartet made their AFL debut in their time at the club.
