The first round of the National Draft was held, with the draft being split over two days and live trading allowed for the first time. West Coast did not have a pick, but made history with the first ever draft-day trade, a complicated pick swap with Sydney.

The draft continued, with West Coast involved in a further pick swap before taking midfielders Xavier O'Neill and Luke Foley and ruckman Bailey Williams. The club also matched a bid on Academy product Jarrod Cameron, before taking Harry Edwards and former Collingwood player Josh Smith in the rookie draft.

The WA Football Commission announced the recruiting rules for players for West Coast's new standalone reserves side, with the top-up list to include a minimum of 15 players across nine recruitment categories and be subject to salary and points caps: http://www.wafootball.com.au/news/16138/recruiting-rules-finalised-for-west-coast-eagles-wafl-team
The club announced its first six signings for the WAFL squad, including two players who played senior WAFL football in 2018, Joel Kalajzic (with East Fremantle) and Luke Salomone (with Perth).
