Waalitj Marawar (West Coast) named co-captain Oscar Allen to return to the side after missing the Richmond game with knee soreness, while Jack Williams, Bo Allan and Clay Hall were included on an extended bench. Archer Reid was the only omission, with the young forward managed after playing the first nine games of the year.
Gold Coast defeated Hawthorn in Darwin to kick off Sir Doug Nicholls Indigenous Round.

The football world was rocked by the death of 2006 premiership player Adam Selwood at the age of just 41, just three months after the loss of his twin brother Troy.
Collingwood defeated Kuwarna (Adelaide), Geelong thrashed Yaartapulti (Port Adelaide), Walyalup (Fremantle) upset GWS Giants and Western Bulldogs thumped Essendon.

Waalitj Marawar finally broke through for their first win of the Andrew McQualter era, holding off Euro-Yroke (St Kilda) in a high-scoring Sir Doug Nicholls Indigenous Round clash. On an emotional day as the club marked the tragic loss of Selwood, Waalitj ratcheted up the pressure on the visitors and had a handy 23-point lead late in the first half before a Saints goal narrowed the margin on the half-time siren. There were a few anxious moments in the last quarter, which turned into a shootout, as the Saints got the margin back within three goals but two crucial goals to Liam Ryan put the result beyond doubt. Brady Hough had a team-high 24 disposals and his first career goal, and Harley Reid had 15 touches and two goals.
In the day's other games, North Melbourne narrowly held off Richmond and Narrm (Melbourne) upset reigning premiers Brisbane.
Monday 19 May[]
Hough received a fine for the rare charge of making unreasonable or unnecessary contact with an injured player, Saints ruckman Rowan Marshall.
Tuesday 20 May[]
Waalitj Marawar made the sobering announcement that vice-captain Jeremy McGovern faced assessment from a medical panel, having failed to overcome a concussion suffered several weeks previously.
In addition, the club ruled out small forwards Jamie Cripps (knee) and Matthew Owies (calf) for anout a month after the pair were injured against Euro-Yroke, while Campbell Chesser remained on the sideline for at least another week, having yet to play after pre-season ankle surgery.
