Hutchings was called up to make his debut as Kerr (knee) and Masten (ill) were left out of the traveling party when West Coast flew to Brisbane. Vice-captain Waters signed a new deal to keep him at the club until the end of 2015. Richmond beat Port Adelaide, North Melbourne easily defeated Western Bulldogs, Fremantle overcame Collingwood and Hawthorn beat Sydney.

Adelaide thrashed GWS Giants, Gold Coast had a big win over Melbourne and St Kilda narrowly defeated Carlton.
