West Coast announced that co-captain Oscar Allen would miss the rest of the season after being sent for surgery on a troublesome knee injury. The key forward, who entered free agency at the end of the year, was initially reported to be out for the "medium term" after suffering a calf and Achilles injury, but elected to take the opportunity to go under the knife.
In better news, the club announced contract extensions for draftee trio Tom Gross, Lucca Grego and Hamish Davis, with all three adding an extra year to their automatic two-year draft contracts.

Champion defender Jeremy McGovern announced his immediate retirement after being recommended to do so by the AFL's concussion panel, ending his career after 197 games and five All-Australian selections.
Brisbane had a rare away win over Geelong.

West Coast announced a new captaincy duo in the AFLW, with youngsters Bella Lewis and Charlie Thomas taking the reins from Emma Swanson, who had stepped down earlier in the pre-season. Mikayla Western (vice-captain) and veterans Dana Hooker and Alison Drennan rounded out the leadership group.

The club provided an injury update, with defenders Tom Cole and Harry Edwards both facing tests on hamstring injuries, while Matthew Owies (calf) was expected to miss one more week and Elliot Yeo joined in main training for the first time in his slow recovery from ankle surgery.
