West Coast revealed that Mark LeCras would miss the upcoming clash with Adelaide after playing out the match against Essendon with an injured wrist.

Midfielders Brendon Ah Chee and Brayden Ainsworth replaced LeCras and the omitted Jackson Nelson. Uncapped forward Matthew Allen travelled to Adelaide as the emergency.

Richmond defeated Sydney.

Western Bulldogs won a thriller against Geelong.

West Coast fell to the Crows by 10 points at Adelaide Oval, coughing up a 20-point lead at the final break and giving up six goals in the last term.

East Perth lost to South Fremantle, falling away after quarter-time.

Port Adelaide beat Carlton, GWS Giants defeated Hawthorn and Collingwood leapfrogged the Eagles into second spot with a win over Gold Coast.

St Kilda narrowly beat Melbourne, Essendon defeated North Melbourne and Brisbane upset Fremantle.

Monday 2 July[]

The club announced that Liam Ryan had been involved in a minor traffic accident overnight. Newspaper reports suggested that the first-year forward was in a car that hit a tree in Armadale, but he was believed not to be injured.

The Match Review Officer fined Jack Redden for making careless contact with an umpire.

Tuesday 3 July[]

There was bad news on the injury front with LeCras out for up to a month with his wrist injury and Eric MacKenzie finished for the season after his toe injury flared up. Tom Barrass was a chance of returning against the Giants but key forwards Josh Kennedy and Jack Darling would need at least another week.

East Perth announced that they were pulling out of the alignment with West Coast, paving the way for the Eagles to have a standalone reserves side.
