West Coast announced the panel to select the next head coach, featuring CEO Don Pyke, directors Rowan Jones and Jan Cooper, football manager Gavin Bell and consultant and Geelong premiership defender Harry Taylor.
One person not involved was assistant coach Matthew Knights, who announced he would return to Victoria at the end of the year rather than seek a new contract.

West Coast made six changes, five of them forced, with the headline inclusions the return of Jeremy McGovern and Liam Duggan from injury and the debut of midfielder Clay Hall. That trio was joined by Alex Witherden, Tyrell Dewar and Harvey Johnston, with Tom Barrass (concussion), Luke Edwards (concussion), Josh Rotham (abdominal) and suspended forwards Jack Petruccelle and Jack Hutchinson all unavailable and Jai Culley the sole omission.

West Coast snapped their losing streak with a hard-fought 10-point win over Gold Coast under lights at Perth Stadium. The Suns looked headed for victory when they broke out to a 23-point lead early in the third term, but late goals to Duggan and Jamie Cripps got the Eagles over the line. Tim Kelly had a team-high 29 possessions and eight clearances and Jake Waterman kicked four goals.
In the night's other game, Western Bulldogs comfortably beat Melbourne.

West Coast's reserves suffered a disappointing loss to Lathlain Park co-tenants Perth. The Demons went into the clash at the foot of the WAFL ladder but had the game on their terms for much of the contest. The Eagles threatened during the third term when they were able to close to within eight points, but Perth pulled away with a five-goal final quarter. Campbell Chesser had 23 disposals while Matt Flynn had 31 hitouts and a goal.
North Melbourne beat Richmond, Geelong squeezed past Adelaide, Collingwood held off Carlton and Port Adelaide handed out a historic thrashing to ladder leaders Sydney.

GWS Giants came from behind to beat Hawthorn, Essendon came from behind to beat Fremantle and Brisbane thumped St Kilda.

West Coast announced that Dom Sheed's season was over after suffering a hamstring injury during training, with the premiership midfielder also facing surgery on a foot issue he had carried for a number of weeks. Harry Edwards (concussion) was ruled out for at least a week, joining Luke Edwards (concussion) and Josh Rotham (abdominal) on the sidelines, while Tom Barrass needed to clear concussion protocols as well as a fitness test on his hamstring.
In AFLW news, the club announced the signing of Carlton VFLW midfielder Octavia Di Donato as a replacement for the unavailable Dana Hooker (pregnancy), but lost defender Annabel Johnson for the season after the former Cat suffered a ruptured ACL during training.
