West Coast named four experienced players to return to the side, with Elliot Yeo (soreness), Jeremy McGovern (ribs) and Jake Waterman (knee) back from injury and Jack Darling recalled after a WAFL stint. The quartet replaced Campbell Chesser, Jack Petruccelle, Alex Witherden and Jamaine Jones, who were all omitted.

Co-captain Liam Duggan, unavailable due to concussion, signed a four-year contract extension to take him through to the end of the 2028 season. Duggan said he was never going anywhere. In AFLW news, the club announced a trio of contract extensions, with speedy forward/wing Mikayla Western signing on for two years and draftees Kayley Kavanagh and Georgie Cleaver extending through to the end of 2025.

Friday 26 July[]

McGovern was withdrawn from the side to face Fremantle after failing a fitness test on his rib injury, with Petruccelle earning a reprieve. Witherden was also withdrawn from the emergencies with a hip injury, with youngsters Tyrell Dewar and Harvey Johnston placed on standby.

Port Adelaide pulled away from Carlton.

Saturday 27 July[]

West Coast lost a hard-fought and spiteful Derby, with a third-quarter lapse costing them massively in a 35-point defeat. The Eagles threatened to upset their crosstown rivals for the second time in 2024 when they led at halftime, but gave up five unanswered goals in the third term as the finals-bound Dockers took control. Tim Kelly had a team-high 32 possessions and Harley Reid had 29 touches despite some close attention.

The reserves also went down, suffering a 19-point defeat to Subiaco. Dom Sheed led all players with 30 disposals and Coen Livingstone kicked a career-high three goals.

Geelong beat North Melbourne in Hobart, Brisbane defeated local rivals Gold Coast, St Kilda put a dent in Essendon's finals hopes and GWS Giants won a thriller over Melbourne.

Sunday 28 July[]

The Match Review Officer handed out a multitude of penalties, with Petruccelle and Jack Hutchinson each offered a week's suspension for rough conduct and Oscar Allen, Reuben Ginbey, Liam Ryan, Bailey Williams, Jayden Hunt, Harry Edwards and Ryan Maric all fined for engaging in a melee.

Collingwood defeated Richmond, Western Bulldogs beat Sydney and Hawthorn comfortably defeated Adelaide.

Monday 29 July[]

The club accepted all penalties from the Derby, ruling Petruccelle and Hutchinson out of the upcoming clash with Gold Coast.

Tuesday 30 July[]

West Coast provided an injury update, with Callum Jamieson the latest player to be sent for season-ending surgery while Tom Barrass and Luke Edwards were both ruled out after going into concussion protocols. Zane Trew was a chance of retaining his spot despite being subbed out early in the Derby with a neck injury, while McGovern (ribs), Liam Duggan (concussion) and Witherden (hip) were hopeful of returning.
