West Coast made four forced changes to the side that faced Brisbane, with Liam Duggan (concussion), Jake Waterman (iliotibial band), Elliot Yeo (soreness) and Tyler Brockman (ankle) all unavailable. Jai Culley, Jack Petruccelle, Josh Rotham and Campbell Chesser were all recalled, while young tall Archer Reid flew with the side as an emergency.

West Coast were embarrassed by St Kilda under the Docklands roof, with a horror second half consigning them to a 72-point loss. The Eagles were able to keep scores relatively close up to halftime despite being beaten in all critical measures, but the dam wall burst in the second half with the Saints piling on goals at will. Jayden Hunt turned in one of his best games with 35 touches and Jack Williams showed some promise with a three-goal haul.

GWS Giants defeated Gold Coast, Hawthorn stunned Collingwood, Port Adelaide took care of Richmond and Western Bulldogs beat Geelong.

Brisbane won a classic contest with Sydney, Fremantle comfortably accounted for Melbourne and Carlton shook off a determined North Melbourne.

West Coast provided some disappointing injury news, with recruit Tyler Brockman out for the rest of the season with an ankle injury, Liam Duggan set to miss another week with concussion, Coby Burgiel ruled out for up to a month with another hamstring injury and Callum Jamieson still out indefinitely, with his knee issue now combining with an ankle complaint. In better news, Yeo (soreness), Waterman (iliotibial band) and Matt Flynn (ankle) were all expected to resume, while Jeremy McGovern (ribs) faced a fitness test.
