West Coast named Josh Kennedy to return to face his old side, along with tall defender Harry Edwards. Medical sub Sam Petrevski-Seton, Luke Foley, Alex Witherden, Greg Clark and potential debutant Jai Culley were included on an extended bench. Elliot Yeo (hamstring) and Connor West (Achilles) could not be considered, while Josh Rotham was dropped.

Geelong beat Melbourne to leapfrog the Demons into top spot.

In horrendous conditions, West Coast's reserves managed just four goals in a loss to East Perth. Patrick Naish had 32 possessions while young ruck Callum Jamieson had 21 disposals to go with 16 hitouts.

Jamie Cripps was withdrawn from the AFL side under health and safety protocols, replaced by Foley.

Collingwood survived a scare from North Melbourne, Gold Coast won a thriller after the siren against Richmond, Fremantle beat St Kilda and Port Adelaide thumped GWS Giants.

West Coast were thrashed by Carlton, with strong second and third quarters bookended by scoreless first and fourth terms. Shannon Hurn proved ageless with 28 possessions and Kennedy kicked two goals to take his West Coast tally to 700.

Essendon upset a depleted Brisbane and Hawthorn defeated Adelaide.
