West Coast were forced into several changes with Jack Redden (knee), Jamaine Jones (ankle) and Alex Witherden (groin) all unavailable for the clash with North Melbourne. Andrew Gaff and Liam Ryan returned from injury and suspension respectively, while Jackson Nelson, Josh Rotham, Xavier O'Neill, Brendon Ah Chee and medical sub Jack Petruccelle were included on an extended bench.

Melbourne defeated Port Adelaide.

West Coast's reserves fell to Swan Districts by just two points, having fought back from 20 points down at half-time to hit the front late in the match. Mark Hutchings (30 disposals, three goals) and mid-season draftee Connor West (33 disposals, five tackles) put their hand up for AFL selection.

Luke Foley, Nathan Vardy and Luke Edwards were all dropped from the final side, with Nelson, Rotham, Ah Chee and Petruccelle surviving the cut.

Fremantle thumped Hawthorn in Launceston, Geelong beat Carlton and St Kilda upset Brisbane.

Gold Coast pipped GWS Giants in Ballarat, Sydney defeated Western Bulldogs and Collingwood beat Richmond.

Monday 12 July[]

West Coast slumped to an upset loss to North Melbourne in a wet Monday night clash. The bottom-of-the-ladder Kangaroos led by 12 points early in the final term before the Eagles roared into life with four quick goals. It was a false dawn, however, as the visitors kicked four of the last five goals to send West Coast to their third straight defeat.
