For the second straight week West Coast swung the axe at the selection table, with Lewis Jetta and Tom Hickey dropped while Will Schofield (suspension) and Jarrod Brander (hip) could not be considered. Replacing them were Jeremy McGovern, recalled pair Jackson Nelson and Oscar Allen and forward Jake Waterman, picked for his first game of the season.

The AFL announced revised fixtures for rounds 6 and 7, although West Coast's games did not change. With coronavirus numbers spiking in Victoria, all Melbourne-based teams were scheduled to move to hubs in NSW, Queensland and WA for at least a month.

West Coast's reserves again met with Gold Coast's extended squad in a scratch match at Carrara.

Saturday 4 July[]

West Coast finally returned to the winners' list, comfortably accounting for Sydney by 34 points at the club's temporary Gold Coast base. With the Swans unable to field a recognised ruckman, Nic Naitanui had a day out with 39 hitouts and seven clearances, and the recalled Allen kicked three goals, but the Eagles lost skipper Luke Shuey and forward Jamaine Jones to hamstring injuries.

In other matches, Geelong beat Gold Coast, Western Bulldogs thumped North Melbourne, and Brisbane handed Port Adelaide their first defeat of the season.

Fremantle defeated Adelaide, Richmond beat Melbourne and GWS Giants defeated Hawthorn.

Midfielder Jack Redden was fined for striking Sydney's Josh Kennedy.

West Coast announced that Shuey would miss at least a week with his hamstring injury, while Jones was expected to miss two or three.
