West Coast announced the departure of list manager Darren Glass, who was taking up an opportunity outside of football.

The West Australian reported that West Coast had signed former Brisbane Lion Cedric Cox to its WAFL side, joining recently-delisted midfielder Hamish Brayshaw who was expected to be named captain.

Friday 29 January[]

West Coast named eight club debutants to play Adelaide, headlined by former Bulldog Aisling McCarthy and ex-Fremantle defender Tayla Bresland. Another former Docker, Brianna Green, was named for her long-awaited debut after missing the entire 2020 season due to injury, while draftees Bella Lewis, Shanae Davison, Andrea Gilmore, Amber Ward and Demi Liddle were also included.

The club confirmed three players had been given permission to train with the squad for the chance of receiving a Supplementary Signing Period list spot - Cox, Subiaco forward Nick Martin and Swan Districts defender Will Collins.

Saturday 30 January[]

West Coast fell to Adelaide in the AFLW season-opener. The Eagles started brightly but wilted in the hot conditions, with the Crows blowing the game open with four unanswered goals in the third term. Mikayla Bowen was among the Eagles' best with 13 touches and a goal.

The AFL announced the official fixtures for the pre-season AAMI Community Series, with West Coast playing Port Adelaide at Leederville Oval on 7 March.

Monday 1 February[]

With the Perth metropolitan area on a snap lockdown, the AFL confirmed that the Eagles' round 2 match would have to be rescheduled.
