West Coast announced that Drew Petrie and Jan Cooper had been appointed to roles in the Game Development department, with Petrie overseeing coaching of the club's academies and Cooper co-ordinating the female academy.

The club announced that recovering ruckman Nic Naitanui had been added to the leadership group for 2018, with Andrew Gaff and Jeremy McGovern retained alongside skipper Shannon Hurn and vice-captains Luke Shuey and Josh Kennedy. Retired midfielders Matt Priddis and Sam Mitchell were the only omissions from the 2017 group.
